The enthusiastic efforts of Eric and Kelly Tucker will pay off in May when they prepare to open Flamingo Beach Grille & Bar at 4321 Michigan Ave., Tipton, at the spot where the CoCoNuts restaurant operated until it closed six years ago.

Perched on the edge of Tipton Highway, just north of M-50, is the Tipton Community Congregational Church. Its bell tower and entrance are testimony to the age of the structure, which dates to 1860.

At a vigil Saturday evening, candles were lit, prayers were read, and a statement was made by the brother of a missing Tipton woman, Dee Warner. Her disappearance nearly six months ago on April 24 has left her family, friends and many in Lenawee County struggling for answers.

Seven years ago a few people from the congregation of the Tipton Community Congregational Church had an idea to start a weekly dinner to feed the hungry in their community.

A mere 5.3 miles due west of Tecumseh, the Energy Transfer Rover Pipeline LLC project is moving right along with land cleared and pipes on the ground in a northeast direction just west of Tipton in Franklin Township.

Hiram J. Larrue was killed by bushwackers near Grove Church, Va. John Barnam and George Mason died aboard the steamer Sultana when it exploded near Memphis, Tenn. William Penticost perished at the infamous Andersonville Prison in Georgia under deplorable conditions.
