Nineteen women and men from Tecumseh are making the journey to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Women’s March on Washington (WMW) on what will be President Donald Trump’s first full day in office on Saturday. Kailah Clifft, Breinne Reeder, and the Rev. Cathi King will be among them.

Tecumseh’s 8th Annual Ice Sculpture Festival will give the community reason to get outside this weekend, with activities downtown Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 22 from noon until 4 p.m.

The River Raisin Ragtime Revue, a ragtime orchestra slated to hold its 6th Annual Ragtime Extravaganza in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Jan. 21, came to be when one of its founders wanted to make music more interactive for audiences.

Tecumseh City Council passed a resolution on Tuesday to amend the city’s 2016-17 budget for the general fund from $5,240,872 to $5,394,355 following unexpected revenues during the last six months. The city is currently halfway through the fiscal year, which runs July 1 through June 30.

Lightning Quick may be a familiar name to Tecumseh area residents. Owner Rex Crist closed the party shop’s doors in 1999 to make room for what is now CVS Pharmacy. But Crist is back and this time he’s building Lightning Quick Gas N Go near the intersection of M-50 and M-52.
