The City of Tecumseh was chosen by the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) as one of 10 communities to host a community development fellow for the 2021-2022 program year, which will bring an extra impact to support efforts to improve Tecumseh and promote the area.

Tecumseh’s current contract for weekly trash pickup with Stevens Disposal expires June 30, leaving six weeks and two city council meetings for elected officials to decide how city residents will place their trash, recyclables and yard waste at the curb.

Last year’s precautions delayed the start of Tecumseh’s Farmers Market until June, but this year the market will be right on schedule with opening day set for Saturday, May 22 and the return of most of the event’s regular features at the Market on Evans, 213 N. Evans St.

Two bond proposals on the May 4 ballot, one to continue funds to operate the Tecumseh Community Pool at Tecumseh Public Schools’ (TPS) Compass Learning Center and the other to pay for a major renovation project at Clinton Community Schools, were passed by voters on Tuesday.

Crime Stoppers of Lenawee is asking for the public’s help locating a missing person. The missing person is 52-year-old Dee Ann Warner, from Tecumseh. She was last seen at her residence on Munger Road in Franklin Township on the evening of April 24 and the early morning hours of April 25.

Tecumseh City Council changed course on Monday in regards to zoning for industrial hemp. Council had previously approved a zoning amendment that would grant Special Land Use for hemp processing facilities in I-1 industrial districts.

Just like Old Faithful, water and sewer rates are going up. The city has made it clear to expect annual increases to cover increasing costs of operations and maintenance due to growing costs for personnel, contractual applications and supplies.

At a special meeting of the Tecumseh School Board Tuesday night, Supt. Rick Hilderley announced in a prepared statement that the December appointment to the board of Kevin Johnson has been ruled “null and void” after a legal investigation.
