At 6 a.m. on September 24, 2020, the doors of the new ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital opened on North Adrian Highway as both Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh and Bixby Hospital in Adrian closed their emergency rooms and ceased to operate.

More than three years have passed since ground was broken on North Adrian Highway property to prepare for construction of the new ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital, and now the 220,000-square-foot campus is set to open to the public September 24.
