A proactive step to control and regulate any business that opens in Tecumseh to manufacture hemp was taken Monday by City Council with adoption of an amended zoning ordinance.

Setting up a marijuana-based business in Tecumseh will become officially prohibited beginning on December 13 following the second reading of an ordinance adopted by city council on Monday. The decision was unanimous.

Tecumseh is joining other cities across the state by enacting an ordinance to prohibit or restrict the opening of marijuana-based businesses following the legalization of marijuana at the November 6 election.
