Yes, Cruz is eligible to run as candidate in presidential election

To the Editor,

Several of the presidential candidates and political enemies of Ted Cruz have attempted to discourage voters from considering him an eligible candidate for President of the United States because his American mother gave birth to him in Canada.

Article II Section I Clause V states “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President;” The definition here of “natural born” and “Citizen of the United States” is vague as it also is in Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. However, Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4 of the Constitution states “Congress shall have the power to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization...” and Section 5 of the 14th Amendment states “The Congress shall have power to enforce by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”

What makes Ted Cruz eligible is found in the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, Title III, Section 301, pertaining to birth abroad to one U.S. Citizen of which all of the following are true; the person’s parents were married at the time of birth; one of the persons parents was a U.S. Citizen when the person was born; The citizen parent lived at least 10 years in the U.S. before the child’s birth and a minimum of 5 of these 10 years in the U.S. were after the citizen parent’s 14th birthday.

Ted Cruz is eligible and his character, intellect, and experience qualify him as the best candidate for President.  Cruz as Solicitor General for the state of Texas, before the U.S. Supreme Court, defended U.S. Sovereignty against the United Nations and the World Court. He has led the opposition against amnesty for illegal immigrants and has defended the constitutional rights of all citizens.

Ted Cruz is not a flamboyant talker. He has a voting record that proves what he would advocate as the President of the United States.
