William Ross Groover, Jr.

William Ross Groover, Jr., age 94, of Tecumseh went to be with his heavenly Father on January 30, 2016.

He was born on June 23, 1921 in Breckenridge, Texas the son of William and Evelyn (McAllister) Groover. On December 24, 1948 he married Elnora E. Donehoo, and they were together 67 years before her death in 2015.

William was a member of the Tecumseh Church of Christ where over the years he served as an elder. He retired after 20 years from Herrick Memorial Hospital as the Administrator. He enjoyed flying his own plane; substitute teaching; talking about his many experiences of being a B-52 bomber pilot, in WWII; active in the Adrian Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol; Experimental Aircraft Association and was a Ham radio operator. He also was a devoted and loving father; grandfather and great grandfather.

William is survived by two sons; Jim Groover (Kim Moored) of Wayland, Mich.; Randy Groover (Charron) of Wayland, Mich.; and two daughters; Suzanne (Jeff) Custer of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; Roxanne Wahrenberg (Gunter) of Clinton, Mich., a daughter-in-law; Susie Groover; eight grandchildren Drew Custer, Alison Seright; Jessica Raabe, Nicki Niehls, Brandon Custer; Andy, Samantha and Kelsey Groover, and seven great grandchildren; a sister Marjorie Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Elnora; a son William R. Groover III; and a brother Hugh Groover.

Memorial service for William will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Tecumseh Church of Christ with Pastor Jeff Custer officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park under the auspices of Tecumseh American Legion Underwood Orr Post No. 34 and Tecumseh VFW Slater Post No. 4187.
