Tribe beats SMCC but loses to visiting Saline

Saint Mary’s Catholic Central came to Tecumseh on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and was defeated 99-81 by the Indians.Karlee Marsh recorded a state cut time in the 500-yard freestyle during the evening. She was one of four double winners (Alicia Dusseau, Maddie Gee, Brynn Nevins) for the Indians.At home against Saline two days later, Thursday, Sept. 18, Tecumseh lost 128-55 against the Hornets.Saline swept the opening race, the 200-yard medley relay, starting with a first place time of 1:58.37.Tecumseh recorded first place to follow in the 200-yard freestyle with Marsh hitting a state cut time of 1:59.95 to place first.The Indians won only two other races during the rest of the evening. Marsh placed first in the 10-yard freestyle with a time of 55.35 while Brynn Nevins finished second in 57.73.Tecumseh also placed first in the final event of the evening, the 400-yard freestyle relay with the team of Nevins, Madison Gee, Marsh and Alicia Dusseau touching the wall with a time of 3:56.98.Nevins recorded a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.41 behind Saline’s first place finisher Gillian Gatecliff (26.39).Gee placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a state cut time of 1:04.85 behind Saline’s Maddie Murphy (1:04.79).Gee was also second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.89. Saline’s Sydney Kermath placed first with a time of 1:08.25.Dusseau was second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.18 behind Saline’s Emily Klemptner (1:13.39).
