Teens arrested for attempted robbery in Nebraska

Ethan M. Humphries, 18, and Tanner J. Perry, 17, both of Tecumseh, were arrested Wednesday, Feb. 25, suspected of attempting to rob Casey’s General Store in Wood River, Neb., at 3:25 a.m. the same day. According to the police report from the Hall County [Nebraska] Sheriff’s Department, Officer C. Folkerts contacted Casey’s General Store manager Karen Schroeder who advised that someone tried to gain access to the building through the front door and she observed a male flee the area. The report continues that deputies in the vicinity observed a blue Ford Explorer leaving the area. Deputies followed the vehicle, stopping it as it headed eastbound on Interstate 80. The two occupants were identified as Humphries and Perry, with Humphries advising they had gone to Wood River with the intent to rob Casey’s General Store, according to the report. Schroeder identified Humphries as the person who attempted to gain entry in a drive-up identification, according to the report. Found in the vehicle were two stolen revolvers, marijuana, and a glass pipe. Both suspects were arrested and taken to Hall County Corrections where the two remain on $100,000 bond. According to the report, Humphries was booked for Attempted Robbery, Class III Felony; Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Class IV Felony, Carrying Concealed Weapon, Class I misdemeanor; Possess Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, infraction; and Possess Drug Paraphernalia, infraction.Perry, charged as an adult, was booked for Aiding and Abetting Attempted Robbery, Class III Felony; Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Class IV Felony, Carrying Concealed Weapon, Class I misdemeanor; Possess Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, infraction; and Possess Drug Paraphernalia, infraction.According to The Grand Island Independent, court documents said Humphries and Perry were carrying a stolen Smith & Wesson .38 Special handgun and a Rohm .22-caliber handgun. A press release from Hall County Sheriff’s Department said the incident continues to be under investigation by the department and further information will be released at a later time. The two appeared in court on Thursday, Feb. 26, and a preliminary hearing was set for April 17 at 2:30 p.m. for both.
