Supports Cruz’s record vs. Trump’s emotional appeal in campaign

To the Editor,

Michigan’s March 8 Republican Primary could be reduced to two candidates:  Cruz and Trump.

Many of us are disgusted that Obama’s destructive agenda has not been stopped.  New York celebrity Donald Trump is shouting what citizens with values want to hear.  Senator Ted Cruz has a proven record of action defending those values.

Ted Cruz recently questioned Trump’s conservatism by his “New York Values:”

Our next president may appoint up to 4 new Supreme Court Justices.  Trump told National Review in August that his sister, Federal Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, would be a “phenomenal” Supreme Court Justice. Unfortunately, Barry has been a huge defender of partial-birth abortion.

Trump builds and owns gambling casinos and strip clubs. He touts his childhood Bible, but he appears unfamiliar with the Bible and its principles.

Trump is either unfamiliar with or has little regard for our Constitution. He has gained popularity with his shoot-from-the-lip statements such as, “We’re going to get Apple to build their damn computers and things in this country instead of in other countries,”  but this could only be done by extra-constitutional means.

Trump has a long history of supporting far left positions, politicians and causes.  He has advocated for hate-crime laws which could be used to stifle free speech and exercise of religion.

In contrast, Senator Ted Cruz has a consistent record of defending constitutional liberty.

In his first day as President, he pledges to:

Rescind every unconstitutional executive order made by Obama.

Instruct the U.S. Dept. of Justice to investigate and prosecute Planned Parenthood’s abusive and illegal activities.

Inform the DOJ, IRS, and every other branch of the federal government that the persecution of religious liberty is over.

Eliminate the catastrophic Iranian Nuclear Deal.

Begin the process of moving America’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

A 12/17/15 Washington Examiner article quotes Dr. James Dobson:  “Ted Cruz’s record on religious liberty, life and marriage is second to none in this Republican field... Shirley and I have been praying for a leader such as this, and we are confident that Ted Cruz has the moral and spiritual foundations to lead our nation with excellence...we urge conservatives and people of faith to join us in supporting his race for the presidency.”
