Sophia Bailey

Sophia Bailey, age 98, of Tecumseh, formerly of Britton, passed away January 26, 2016.

Sophia was born May 12, 1917 in Ecorse, Mich., the daughter of Charles and Eleanor  (Bielotawicz) Glenn. On August 17, 1940 she married Albert Harrison Bailey and he preceded her in death August 1974. She worked for many years as a florist retiring from Grey Fox Floral. Spending time with her family, traveling and playing euchre were some of her interests. She danced with Henry Ford on her 16th birthday when he visited  Centennial  School.

Sophia is survived by her children, Barbara (JC) Heflin of Onsted, Bette (Larry) Robison of Britton, Kathleen (Bob) Bracey of Citrus Springs, Fla., and Albert (Sue) Bailey of Adrian; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Sally Glenn.

In addition to her husband, Albert, Sophia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Verna and Francis; brothers, Joe, Frank and Walter (Pete) and son-in-law, Karl.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Ridgeway Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ray Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.  Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, one hour preceding the service at the church.  Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.
