Service Club donations help support families throughout the year

To the Editor,

What happens when you combine 34 Tecumseh Service Club members with assistance from friends, neighbors, businesses, churches, schools and other organizations? Because of the generosity of our community, the Tecumseh Service Club was able to provide a wonderful Christmas for 132 families, including 306 children with food and toys plus 50 gift cards for groceries for area senior citizens and families without children. That is what happens when we all work together.

The community adopted 130 of the ‘Christmas families’ by providing clothing and toys for each child. We are grateful for the donations received from the Tecumseh Public Library “Gift of Reading” program that allowed each child to receive a new book. We could not have completed our Christmas program without the generous support of Toys for Tots.

Our work is not just at Christmas. Because of the contributions we receive, we are able to assist families with rent, utilities, medical bills and other emergency needs throughout the year. Thank you for making it possible for us to continue to help our community as we have has since 1932. No matter how large or small your donation was we appreciate it!
