Ruth M. Crosby

Ruth M. Crosby, age 97, of Tecumseh, died February 20, 2016 at the Fieldstone in Tecumseh. She was born February 21, 1918 in Springville, Mich., to Glenn and Vera Driscoll. Ruth moved to Tecumseh following her graduation from Adrian High School. She will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, gracious and forgiving spirit, and her dedication to her family and to the Tecumseh community. Ruth’s musical talent will be sorely missed in Tecumseh. Her family gave their gifts of music to Tecumseh, playing at dances and clubs across many years. She continued to share her beautiful voice and masterful piano and organ playing until just before her passing. She played for many years at Herrick Manor, Tecumseh Place and Fieldstone. Ruth and her sister, Roma M. Gray, were awarded the Musgrove Evans Award in 2001 in recognition of their leadership and volunteerism in Tecumseh.

Mrs. Crosby is survived by her daughter, Rita (Ronald) Siwik; son, David Crosby and daughter, Rae Lynne (Larry) Mattis; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and special friends Dan Meikle and Rae Nita Larsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Crosby; parents; sister, Roma and brother, Gerald Driscoll.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Clinton, with Pastor Susie Shaefer officiating. A private burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Clinton.
