Roger L. Korte
Roger L. Korte, age 73, passed away on November 4, 2015, with family by his side at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich. He was born on April 13, 1942, the son of Christian and Lena (Ehmen) Korte in Saline, MI. On November 25, 1991, he married Nevie Armstrong and they shared 28 years together.
Roger graduated from Tecumseh High School, the class of 1960. He retired from General Motors Powertrain after 34 years as a journeyman machine repairman and was a committee man of UAW for many years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bridgewater, Mich. He belonged to the Adrian Moose and helped a lot with the Clinton Jaycee’s in their events. Roger was an avid reader, loved to golf, and played the keyboard after retiring. He loved living on Dewey Lake, a true prankster, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Roger is survived by his wife, Nevie; his son Eric Korte of Tecumseh; daughter-in-law Jodi Korte of Ann Arbor; stepsons Gary (Collen) Armstrong of Tecumseh, Douglas (Pat) Armstrong of Britton, Walter (Amy) Armstrong, of Saline and John (Annette) Armstrong of Brooklyn; stepdaughters Sally (Barry) Abshire of Comstock Park, Mich., Mary (John) Hadley of Tecumseh, Patricia (Terry) Benedict of Tecumseh; brothers Ron (Mary) Korte and Gary (Sylvia) Korte both of Clinton; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jeffrey in 2006; and a sister, Beverly Ann in infancy.
Visitation for Roger will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bridgewater, MI at 2:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline, Michigan. Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of Roger to Hospice of Lenawee or to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
