Robert (Bob) James Way

Robert (Bob) James Way, age 89, of Clinton, Mich. passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born July 15, 1931 in Clinton, son of the late Raymond B. and Helen V. (Ferrick) Way. Bob graduated from Clinton High School in 1949 and went on to get his bachelor’s degree from Adrian College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On August 6, 1955 he married Mary Jane Van De Mark and they shared 65 years together. Bob retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1994 after working there for 31 years. He was a member of the Clinton American Legion, Clinton Historical Society, and Masonic Lodge 175. He served several years on the Clinton School Board and was also president during some of those years. Bob loved woodworking, camping, snowmobiling, and especially traveling. His family always came first and was the most important thing to him.

Along with his wife, Mary Jane, he is survived by three daughters, Valerie (Jerry) Stiefel of South Lyon, Mich., Melanie (Dan) Dowling of Clinton, and Julia (Larry) Boyles of South Lyon; four grandchildren, Chad Dowling, Christine Brocker, Kaitlyn McDiarmid and Kendyl Boyles. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jacquelyn Dowling Stinemetz.

A memorial service for Robert will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton Historical Society and Arbor Hospice.
