Richard Gagneur

Richard Gagneur, age 85, of Macon, passed  away July 21, 2020. Richard was born July 27, 1934 in Detroit, Mich., the son of John and Violet (Pelchat) Gagneur. He and Rose were married August 29, 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Livonia, Mich.

Richard retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He loved restoring old tractors and loved raising animals on his mini farm. He was active in the Catholic church in Clinton and Wayne and also volunteered for 20 years at the Saline Community Hospital.

Family time with his sons in Northern Michigan was special to him. There wasn’t anything that Richard couldn’t fix as he was a real handyman and was always willing to help others.

In addition to his wife, Rose, Richard is survived by his sons, John (Debra), Ray and Marty (Janet) Gagneur; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Joyce, Sue and Lucy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

A Mass of the Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Fr. Francisco Radecki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Dominic Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation was held on Friday, July 24, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and one hour preceding the service on Saturday. Condolences to the family may be made online at pursefuneralhome.com.
