The turnout was low and many candidates ran un-opposed, but the August 2, 2016 primary election is in the books, setting the ballots for the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. County-wide, only 15.85 percent of registered voters cast a ballot.

In the only contested local race, Raisin Township incumbent Betty Holdridge (D) will face Jackie Schultz in November. Schultz defeated Linda Rosacrans in the Republican primary, 248 to 187. Four trustee positions are up for election in November. Republicans vying for the positions are incumbents Larry Crittenden and Tom Hawkins, along with Marge McDermott and Russell Mead. Democrats running for the trustee spots are Tom VanSickle and Julie Burgett.

In the non-partisan judicial race for the 39th Circuit Court seat in Lenawee County, incumbent judge Anna Marie Anzalone received more than twice as many votes as her opponents. She will face Phillip Schaedler in the November election. Schaedler defeated Stanley Sala by a narrow margin. The vote count was 5,071 for Anzalone, 2,248 for Schaedler, and 2,042 for Sala.

On the state level, Bronna Kahle won the Republican primary race Tuesday, for the District 57 State Representative seat. She beat out oppo-nents Jim Cottrell and Brian Good by a wide margin, receiving 63 percent of the vote. She will face former Tecumseh Mayor Harvey Schmidt, the Democratic candidate, in November.

Incumbent Republican Tim Walberg, four-term Congressman from the 57th District, defeated Doug North in the primary with 73 percent of the vote. He will face Democrat Gretchen Driskell in the fall.
