Phyllis Jean Carpenter

Phyllis Jean Carpenter passed away on July 4, 2019 at Lenawee Care Facility.  She was born on October 31, 1931. She was the daughter of William Harold (Bus) Roberts and Margert Foder. She grew up in Belleville, Mich. and lived there many years.  She met her husband Don who also grew up in Belleville.

After her family moved to Britton in 1972, she worked in accounting at Bohn Aluminum. A few years later she found her passion — flowers. She opened the Herb Hang Up at her home, a dried flower business that allowed her and her husband Don to travel and sell their arrangements at craft shows locally and across the country.

Phyllis loved growing the flowers from seeds to be used in her arrangements. She and her husband Don had about one acre of flowers they took care of for about 20 years. Phyllis also loved to play four-deck solitaire, start a football pool, watch the Red Wings and celebrate Christmas. She was competitive at any game she played.

Phyllis is survived by daughters, Cynthia White (Joe) of Georgia, and Amy Cattell (Fred) of Stockbridge; son, Mark Carpenter (Jackie Lynch) of Saline; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister. Her husband Don passed in 2015. They were married for 65 years.
Well-wishers are encouraged to send donations to Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, Mich.
