Paul Edward McCallister

Paul Edward McCallister, age 76, of Clinton passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at his home with his family surrounding him. He was born July 6, 1943 in Southside, W.Va., the son of the late Emery Elias and Virginia Ellen (Whitt) McCallister. On July 14, 1993 in Clarksville, Tenn., he married Beatrice Zarila Jourdain and they have shared 26 years together.

Paul retired from Ford Motor Company in 1997 after 32 and a half years. He loved to travel especially taking cruises to the Caribbean in the winter. Paul enjoyed going out for dinner on Friday nights with Jack and Sandra and going to the Clinton Fall Festival. Paul loved his family and staying connected with all of them.

Besides his wife, Beatrice, he is survived by his children, Robert Blair of Ypsilanti, Michael Blair of Belleville and Shawn (Corey) Wilhoite of Ypsilanti; his siblings, Velma (Henry) Solar of San Antonio, Texas, Reba Hayes of Monroe, Bob McCallister of Murray, Ky. and Janet (Joe) Belello of Gonzales, La.; six grandchildren, Keith Wilhoite, Beverly (Joe) Variot, Alyssa Okroy, Tommy Blair, Robert Warren and Blake Rupersburg; two great-grandchildren, Aria and Ella Variot. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Okroy, two brothers, Jim and Larry McCallister and a sister, Dorothy Fisher.

Visitation for Paul was held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 5–8 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hawkins officiating with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will was in St. Dominic Cemetery.
