Norman R. Johnson

Norman R. Johnson of Tavares, Fla., passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 at the age of 86. He was born in Ortonville, Mich.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Part of his service included being stationed in Greenland in the Arctic Circle and he was known to be a member of the Blue Nose Club. Norman was a retired factory worker where he worked manufacturing refrigeration parts. He and his wife relocated to Florida in 1988 from Michigan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tavares. Norman was a talented carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and reading and he loved to play cards.

He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Edna; sons, Russell Johnson of Tavares, David Johnson and his wife, LeeAnn, of Baltimore, Ohio and Tom Johnson of New York City; daughters, Barbara Wagner and her husband, Louis, of Britton, Mich., and Debbie Shiels and her husband, John, of Adrian, Mich.; sisters, Helen Nault of Petersburg, Mich., and Hazel Wood of Webberville, Mich.; as well as eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
