Norma “Jean” (Everett) Parrett

Norma “Jean” (Everett) Parrett, age 99 of Jackson, Mich., passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019, from congestive heart failure. She was born on September 10, 1919 at the family home in Northville Township, Mich. to George D. and Blanche Everett.

Jean married her true love and best friend Donald N. Parrett of Tecumseh, Michigan on April 13, 1940. Jean was widowed when Donald preceded her in death in 1998. After graduating from Tecumseh High School she attended Cleary Secretarial College in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

For many years she worked for McCoy and Powell Real Estate in Tecumseh where she and Donald lived and raised their family. Jean and Don moved to Jackson in the1960s. She began working at Jacobson’s Store for the Home as an interior decorator. There she had a perfect venue for her love of antiques and artistry. She was often asked to fly to someone’s out of state home to decorate, but would not go because of her fear of flying.

She and Don enjoyed traveling, antiquing and belonged to several dance clubs. Jean and Don belonged to a glass collecting club and would set up at the yearly convention to sell and buy glass. She loved having her family and friends around. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald and sister Myldred B. Eaton. She is survived by her four children: Donna J. Kirkby-Meservey, Bruce E. Parrett, Margie P. Lawson-Johnson and Mary C. Parrett (Daniel K. Uldricks), two grand children Todd D. and Michelle Kirkby and Elizabeth A. (Kirkby) and husband David Kiselak. Jean had five great grand children: Max Kirkby, Macie Kirkby, Mitch Kirkby, Alexxa Randolph and Hunter Randolph.

Please join us in celebrating her life Friday, June 28, 2019 at Westminster Presbyterian Church 2301 Ridgway Road, Jackson, MI 49203. Visitation at the Church at 12 p.m. Memorial Service at the Church at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or The National Heisey Glass Museum www.heiseymuseum.org.
