Myrtle France Schafer

Myrtle France Schafer went peacefully to be with her Lord on October 17, 2017. God blessed her with 94 good years of loving and serving Him and her family. Myrtle was born on February 5, 1923 in Wyandotte, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Frieda (Sell) Schafer. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wyandotte, Mich. In 1950 she moved to Tecumseh, Mich., where she was a longtime resident until recently when she moved to Lyndon Square in Saline, where she passed away. Myrtle was very active in her church in Bible Studies, teaching Sunday school and Young at Heart. Myrtle also enjoyed sewing, quilting, bowling, playing cards and traveling. Myrtle was the Assistant Business Manager for more than 25 years at Concordia College in Ann Arbor, from 1961 until her retirement.

Myrtle Schafer is survived by five brothers and two sisters: Ralph Schafer of Tecumseh, Howard (Joan) Schafer of Byron, Ohio, Melvin (Barb) Schafer of Milford, Joyce Schultz of Clinton, Ilene (Ed) Schroeder of Fenton, Paul (Sally) Schafer of Tecumseh and Joel (Joyce) Schafer of Tecumseh. Many nieces and nephews were a big part of her life, as well as great-nephews and nieces.

Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Blanche, infant brother Roy David Schafer, brother-in-law Jerry Schultz, and sisters-in-law Helen and Madelyn Schafer.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Saline Waterworks Rd., Saline, MI, 48176, with Rev. Tom Schroeder officiating. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh.
