Matthew Hon

Matthew Hon, age 57, of Ypsilanti, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born January 27, 1957, in Ypsilanti to Theodore Edmond and Shirley Marleen (Sthulmann) Hon, Sr. On October 22, 1993, he married Lorey Lorraine Lovell in Toledo, Ohio, and she survives. Matthew was employed with Inergy. He loved his family first and foremost. He had a great sense of humor and was always teaching that to his grandchildren. They knew “Poppy” was joking and soon learn to try “Poppys” tricks on him! Matthew and Lorey were best friends, lovers, and never did anything apart. He gave his everything to work and family. Matthew was an avid golfer, Tiger fan and U-of-M fan, and he enjoyed his Harley Davidson.In addition to his wife, Lorey he is survived by his father, Theodore Hon, Sr. of Ann Arbor; his children, Jennifer (Timothy) Kruger of Adrian, Eric Curran of Tecumseh and Kristofer (Michelle) Hon of Ypsilanti; one brother, Theodore Edmond Hon, Jr. of Apopka, Fla.; three grandchildren, Gabriella “Peanut” Kruger, Gavin “Gav-man” Kruger and Kaileigh Dunlap-Kruger; an aunt, Mary Moughanis of Ypsilanti; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother and grandparents, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Richard.Because of Matthew’s love for the Detroit Tigers and U-of-M, his family asks that you to please wear Detroit Tiger of U-of-M attire for his visitation.Funeral services for Matthew will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Adrian First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor David Fulks and Pastor Thomas March officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com.
