Marjorie May Bryan

Marjorie May Bryan, age 99, of Tecumseh passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at Cambrian Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born September 5, 1918 in Clinton Twp. to the late John and Lilah May (Murphy) Wintersteen. On November 19, 1942 Marge married Oscar D. Bryan at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Oscar preceded her in death in 2009.

Marge was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the choir and Altar Guild.  She worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant with Tecumseh Public Schools. Marge was a member of the Lenawee Community Chorus in Adrian and served on the Election Commission for many years.

Marge cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family, neighbors and many trusted friends in Tecumseh. She valued honesty, integrity and a good sense of humor. Marge’s fondest memories are of spring trips to the Smoky Mts., singing Halleluiah Chorus with the Community Chorus, drives in the Buick through Hidden Lake Gardens, growing and arranging flowers and being a diehard Tigers fan. You could count on her having a good stock of Peanut M & Ms and a cold Coors Light if you stopped in for a visit. Her grandchildren unanimously agreed her sugar cookies and applesauce were unbeatable as were her skills playing Rummy and Uno.

Marge is survived by daughter, Pam (Chester) Chin of Plainville, Mass.; a son, John (Nancy) Bryan of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Matthew (Sara) Chin of Randolph, Vt., CPT Jeffrey (Kimberly) Chin currently serving in Afghanistan, Kortney (Ryan) Roppel, DVM of Louisville, Ky., J.T. Bryan and Zachary Bryan both of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two great-grandchildren, Kinlee and Kallahan Roppel.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Aileen Tarbet, Marie Alico and Doris Mohr.

Funeral services for Marge were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh with Pastor Philip Krieger officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee.

Condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
