Marjorie Mae (Andersen) Comfort

Marjorie Mae (Andersen) Comfort, 85 years old of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away November 1, 2017 with her family at her bedside after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born June 5, 1932 to the late Christian and Louise (Moll) Andersen in Detroit, Mich. Marge married Gordon Comfort on December 6, 1958, in Monroe, Mich.

She graduated from Lincoln Park high school class of 1950.

Marge earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Michigan Agricultural College in June 1954, was a lifelong Spartan supporter, and was proud that both of her daughters and three grandchildren attended MSU. Her early career was as a reporter for the Royal Oak Tribune, the Monroe Evening News and The Tecumseh Herald newspapers. For the last three decades, she functioned as the Secretary/Treasurer of Comfort Enterprises on Rogers Highway in Tecumseh.

She served as Raisin Township Treasurer and Township Clerk, on the Lenawee County YMCA Board of Directors, and was active in several civic groups, including Wit and Wisdom and Little Garden Club. Marge was known for delivering flowers to many. She enjoyed the fine arts, everything beautiful and had a very special passion for her flower gardens.

She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Gordon Comfort; two daughters, Bethany (Brian) Beauchine and Majel (Christopher) Maes; grandchildren, Aili Beauchine (Ross) Crumbaugh, Paul Maes, Andersen Beauchine, Aaron Beauchine, Danny Maes, and Joshua Maes; and her sister, Dorothy (John) Orvosh of Green Valley Ariz.

Her family is planning a memorial service in the spring, a time of renewal that Marge always enjoyed. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.

Condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
