Marguerite E. Szuma

Marguerite E. Szuma, 85, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 in Tecumseh.  Marguerite was born in Belleville, Mich. She lived most of her life in Belleville, Mich.

Marguerite was a member of many societies at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Belleville.  She had a strong sense of family and heritage. She was proud of her son’s service to this country. 

Marguerite was a loving wife to Alphonse and mother of nine who was proud of her children: Alfonse, Michele Richardson (Steve), Mark, Marianne, Andrew (Kim), Christopher (Bonnie), Theresa Books (Michael), Catherine deMooij (Theo) and Frances. Also 12 loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 210 Pottawatamie, Tecumseh, MI 49286. A Mass of the Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 with viewing at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St., Tecumseh, MI 49286.  A reception will immediately follow. Marguerite will be entombed at Michigan Memorial Cemetery, Flat Rock, Mich. 

Memorial donations may be made in Marguerite’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
