Lyman Mickley Russell

Lyman Mickley Russell, age 82, of Britton died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.  He was born April 24, 1935 in Adrian, the son of the late Charles Mickley and Elizabeth Lois (Covell) Russell. Lyman married the love of his life Judith A. Potes on June 15, 1962 and they shared 55 years together.

Growing up he was raised in Sand Creek. Lyman was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army as a CPL during the Korean War serving with Company D 370th Armored Infantry Battalion as a heavy vehicle driver.  He received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal.  He retired from Tecumseh Products Company after working there from 1967-1995.  Lyman’s hobby of glass blowing and lamp working brought about his own business of Touch of Glass.  He also enjoyed travel, horses and was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse.

In addition to his wife, Judith he is survived by his children, Bill (Nena) Viers and their children, Linzie (Luis) Lucrecio and Shae Anne (Brad) Zilke.  Randy (Leslie) Russell and their children, Angela (Mike) James, Ben (Laura) Ellington, Jessika Russell, Cody Russell, Hannah (Daniel) Tuggle, and Shelby Glover.  Tamara Russell and her children, Sara Eggleston and Alex Eggleston.  Jodi (Scott) Callison and their children, Nikki (Eric) Cooper, Meggan Callison and Haylee Callison and nine great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Charles Norris Russell.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.  Military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187 will follow the service at the funeral home.  Condolences may be offered to the family at
