Louise Janeway

Louise Janeway, age 94, of Manchester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 peacefully at her home. She was born August 11, 1923 in Lee Co., Va., daughter of the late Schultz G. and Lucy C. Brooks.

On June 18, 1946 she married Rev. L. Seal Janeway and they shared 63 years together before his passing on November 6, 2009.

Louise was an active member of the Clinton Baptist Church where she was involved with many activities with her husband. She worked at Gould’s in Tecumseh as a heliarc welder and retired from Ford Motor Co. in Saline in 1987. After Louise retired she also enjoyed working in her daughter’s store, Linda’s Collectables in Adrian. She was a past member of the Eastern Stars and loved gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Kopka of Manchester; four grandchildren, Brett (Emily) Collins of Canton, Mich., Gina (David) Green of Saline, Mich., Sue Kopka of Adrian, Mich. and Lori (Lee) Baird of Saline, Mich.; and eight great-grandchildren, Jamie, Christian, Justin, Sarah, Andrew, Katie, Lucas and Lily.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward “Gene” and Joseph S. Brooks and a son-in-law whom she dearly loved, Les Kopka.

Funeral service for Louise was held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton with Pastors Bob Riddle and Jon Turner officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
