Learn about the influence Laura Haviland had on the rest of the country in her crusade to end slavery, educate African-Americans, and enfranchise all races and sexes with author Sheryl White, who wrote the historical novel—Underground Angel. White's interest in Haviland began as she lived and taught in Haviland, Kansas, a town named after the Adrian native. She wrote her dissertation on Laura Haviland and her legacy of the town of Haviland.
