Kenneth Leroy Plank Sr.
Kenneth Leroy Plank Sr., age 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on February 18, 2017 at ProMedica Bixby Hospital. Born to Donald and Marilyn Ries on February 3, 1939 in Morenci, Mich., he was united in marriage to Sylvia E. Ginn on April 18, 1959 in Blissfield, Mich., and she survives.
Kenneth was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He went to MSU and received a certificate in animal husbandry. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years as a die cast operator. He loved fishing, model railroading and tropical fish and was a former member of the Ridgeway Twp. Planning Committee. But Kenneth’s true passion in life was farming.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Sylvia; his daughters, Daphne Brown, Donna (Eric) Johnson both of Adrian Mich., and Brenda (Scott) Walker of Crossville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Brown, Ashley (Curtis) Maynard, Kasey (Sabastin) Luck, Lauren (Josh) Miller, Brandi Walker, Christopher Ottinger and Ty Walker; great-grandchildren, Zackary Maynard, Bailey Maynard and Jackson Brown; and his sister, Marilyn (William) Swanston of Macon, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Kenneth Jr. and Calvin Edward Plank.
Funeral Services for Kenneth were held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the Grace United Methodist Church of Britton. The burial was at Ridgeway Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post No. 34 and VFW Post No. 4187.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lenawee Humane Society or Jack Ries Scholarship Fund.
