Kenneth G. Hierholzer
Kenneth G. Hierholzer, age 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday April 19, 2016 at Whispering Pines in Adrian, Mich.
He was born on January 30, 1926 in Midland, Mich., the son of Gilbert and Margaret (Hall) Hierholzer. He married Norma Jean Gillette of Midland on January 24, 1947, who preceded him in death on May 6, 1993.
Ken was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during World War II. He was also a retired skilled trade carpenter from the Ann Arbor Local 687.
Ken lived in various locations in Lenawee County before settling at his home in Tipton, building several houses in the area over the last 40 years. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, playing cards and taking care of the family orchard.
Kenneth is survived by his brothers Bernard (Althea) of Piscataway, N.J. and Dale of Sanford, Mich.; sons Larry (Martha) of Ann Arbor, Michael (Carol) of Hawaii and Richard of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Jean Gauss of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; a daughter, Joan and a son, John.
According to the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in Freeland, Mich., at a later date.
