Kathryn L. Venia

Kathryn L. Venia, age 92, of Tecumseh died on March 10, 2019, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian.

She was born on October 30, 1926, in Adrian, Mich., to Frederick and Grace (Hoag) Burkert. On January 13, 1951 she married Vale Venia and he preceded her in death in 2001. Kathryn retired in 1988 from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was a secretary for 22 years. She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Tecumseh, she enjoyed volunteering
at Herrick Memorial Hospital in the gift shop and at the front desk,  was a member of the Herrick Auxiliary, and enjoyed watching her beloved Detroit Tigers.

Kathryn is survived by two sons, Michael Venia of St. Paul, Minn., and Dennis (Shirley) Venia of Clinton, Mich..; a daughter, Karen (Ronald Allen) Young of Buford, Ga.; seven
grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, four sisters, Mary Schwartz, Frances McLaughlin, Helen Williamson and Thelma Dempsy; two brothers, Frederick Burkert and Henry Burkert. The family gives a special thank you to the staff and friends at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility.     

                                                     
Visitation for Kathryn will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh, where a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. The funeral liturgy will be offered on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Tecumseh Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at andersonfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
