Kathryn Gertrude (Tittiger) Larrowe

Kathryn Gertrude (Tittiger) Larrowe, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Tecumseh, Mich., on April 30, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born in Detroit, Mich., on February 4, 1924 to Margaret and Joseph Tittiger.

Kathryn graduated from Milan High School in 1942.  After the war started she got a job working at the Willow Run Bomber Plant drilling holes for the rivets in the wings of B24 bombers. In 1947 she graduated from Mercy College as an R.N. She worked as a nurse until her marriage to Boyd Larrowe on April 18, 1959.

She was a busy stay-at-home mother and loving wife who was very active in her church and community. She served many years on the Altar Society at St. Elizabeth’s and worked on the Herrick Hospital Auxiliary. At different times during the years when her children were young, she served as a den mother, Brownie Girl Scout leader and an assistant Junior Girl Scout leader. She was an accomplished seamstress. She loved to garden and always had a back yard full of beautiful flowers and herbs. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Larrowe, and is survived by her children, Ann (John) Baca of South Lyon, John Larrowe of Toledo, Ohio, Martha (Gary) Henry of Macon Township and David (Nikki) Larrowe of Hudson; eight grandchildren; and her sister, Florence (Tittiger) Schmenk of Bartow, Fla.

Visitation for Kathryn will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
