Kathleen Brock

Kathleen Brock, age 75, of Woodstock, Ill., passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at the JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Care Unit in Woodstock, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Muskegon, Mich., on March 19, 1940, to John and Marrietta (Patterson) Tomorsky.  She married Barry Charles Brock on February 3, 1961, in Tecumseh, Mich.

Kathleen graduated from the Mercy Nursing College of Toledo, Ohio and she worked as a Registered Nurse for over 54 years. She most recently worked for Kindred Home Healthcare. Kathleen was instrumental in helping write the original Illinois CNA Licensing Program. She was also instrumental in helping open the Alcohol Recovery Unit at Centegra Hospital in Woodstock, as well as the Women’s Residential Services for Lake County. She enjoyed trips to Marco Island with her husband. But, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kelly (Brian) Ormsby Mason and Terri Brock (Steven Weinstock); three grandchildren, Sophie Margit Mason, Aiden Brock Codding Mason and Michael Barry Cascarano; and her cousin, Renee (David) Rosekrans.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Barry Charles Brock.

A memorial gathering and celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, from 3-8 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 2018 N. Rt. 47 in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kathleen’s family to help them carry on her life’s work in helping support those on the path of Alcohol Recovery.
