Juanita Rieve

Juanita Rieve, 97, of Tipton, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at Tecumseh Place.

Juanita was born September 24, 1920, to John and Grace (Slocum) Underwood. She graduated from Britton High School in 1939. On October 7, 1939, Juanita married Carl Rieve in Wauseon, Ohio. They spent the next 64 years building a wonderful life together before his death in 2004.

In her role as homemaker and farm wife, Juanita had many talents. She was an excellent cook, baker and was able to freeze the produce from the garden for the family to eat during the winter months. Often you could find Juanita out on a tractor helping Carl in the fields.  Juanita was very organized and somehow knew what her children were doing even when she wasn’t around. She was a member of Raisin Valley Friends Church. Juanita volunteered her time and skills in many ways over the years; as a 4-H leader for ten years with the Onsted Sweet Clovers and being active at Tecumseh Friends Church on the hospitality and kitchen committees.

Survivors include her children, Russell (Sally) Rieve of Tipton and Deborah Couts of Adrian, grandchildren; Krista, Kimberly, Katina, Jennifer and Molly; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, son-in-law Dale Couts and a granddaughter.

Funeral services for Juanita will be 12 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastors Doug Chandler and Tom Schroeder officiating.  Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be on Friday, March 9, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home. Visitation will also take place at 11 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Lenawee County.  You may send condolences and share memories with the family at www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com.
