Joyce Esther Stolte

Joyce Esther Stolte, age 90, passed away on May 12, 2016 at Herrick Manor. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Cheboygan, Mich., the daughter of Harry and Esther (Meden) Farrell. On January 25, 1947 in Detroit, Mich., she married August C. Stolte, Jr. and he survives.

Joyce volunteered at Herrick Hospital for many years and enjoyed gardening. Family meant everything to Joyce, as evidence of her enduring marriage for 69 years to August and her two daughters. Their union was full of grace, humor, devotion and above all, love right to the very end.

Along with her husband, Joyce is survived by her loving daughters Karen (Paul) Daugherty of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Kay (Bob) Luck of Franklin, Wis.; brother Harry Farrell of Calif.; grandchildren, Kevin (Angela) Daugherty, Christopher (Kelly) Daugherty, and Erin (Luke) Rasmussen; and great-grandson Benjamin Rasmussen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Sara Luck.

The funeral service for Joyce was held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Burial was at Brookside Cemetery.
