John F. Holleran

John F. Holleran, age 91 of Tecumseh, passed away on January 23, 2015, under the care of Great Lakes Hospice. He was born on July 14, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., the son of John T. and Gertrude (Kissel) Holleran. John married Ferne Schultz on January 25, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., and she survives.John was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and later St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. John proudly served his Country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, where he received the American Area Victory Medal Asiatic Pacific. After his naval career, John worked as an aviation and auto mechanic at Slick Airways in Ypsilanti and later co-owned and operated P&H Mobil Service in Ann Arbor until his retirement in 1987. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening and was also a member of the Tecumseh VFW.John is survived by his wife Ferne; daughter Kathie Fude of Belleville; sons Tom Holleran of Adrian, Patrick Holleran of Tecumseh, Jeffrey (Jodi Huber) Holleran of San Jose, Calif., Bill (Nancy) Holleran of Walbridge, Ohio, and Dave Holleran of Brooklyn, Mich.; three grandsons, eight granddaughters, five great-grandsons, six great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandsons; and two brothers and two sisters. John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.Visitation for John was held on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 4-7 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes, with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with the Rev.
