Joanne (Bruce) Taylor

Joanne (Bruce) Taylor, 79, of Britton, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the Hospice of Lenawee with her loving children at her side. She was born on January 27, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Lonnie and Delphia Bryant, who were longtime residents of Tecumseh. Joanne worked as a secretary for Tecumseh Products in her earlier years and later in life worked as an evening manager for the Charlotte Stephenson Home in Adrian.

Joanne found her happiness spending time with her children and grandchildren throughout the years and always cherished those moments when they could all be together to celebrate a birthday or a holiday. She made Britton Bethel Baptist church her place of worship and often mentioned how much she enjoyed attending there.

She was best known for her home-style cooking that everyone loved. She also had a love for dancing when one of her favorite songs came on and was found many times dancing with her walker or even sitting in her chair and moving her shoulders while at the nursing home, where she had lived for the past three years.

Those left behind to celebrate her life are: four children, Carey (Tonya) Bruce of Dundee, Genene (David Montecinos) Gray of Adrian, Tray Bruce of Tecumseh and April Daley of Adrian; her one brother Dr. Michael (Carol) Bryant Sr. of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.

Those preceding her death in addition to her parents are Richard Bruce, her husband of many years and father of her four children, her late husband Bill Taylor, and two infant brothers, Edwin and Rodney.   

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Bryant, Sr. officiating. Burial was at Ridgeway Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
