JoAnn Mitchell

JoAnn Mitchell, age 87, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at her home. She was born on September 5, 1932 in Tecumseh, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Julia (Anderson) Johnston. On April 16, 1982 she married Ray V. Mitchell and they have shared 37 years together.

JoAnn worked for Ford Motor Co. as a press operator and was a former member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Tecumseh. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, loved gardening, reading and most of all spending her winters enjoying the sunshine at their home in Florida.

Along with her husband JoAnn is survived by four children, Dawn Sisson of St. Augustine, Fla., John Bradley Sisson of Tecumseh, Kelly Sisson of Blissfield, Mich., and Stephen (Kathy) Sisson of Waterford, Mich.; three step-children, Renee (Dan) Hilgendorf of Dexter, Mich., Karin (Brian) Minix of Munith, Mich., and Jennifer Mitchell of Manchester, Mich.; two grandchildren, John Eric and Jared Sisson; six step-grandchildren, Nicole Peters, Sarah Hilgendorf, Allison Minix, Hailey Minix, Julia Potter and Grace Potter; and four step-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister.

There will be a private memorial service held for JoAnn on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
