James Patrick Hite

James Patrick Hite, age 52, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed peacefully at the University of Michigan Medical Center on September 1, 2017. James was born December 14, 1964 to James Wallace and Marilyn Clara (Poleo) Hite in Tecumseh, Mich. On June 5, 2010 he married Heather Michelle Ketelhut. For 32 years Jim worked for Daniel L. Jacob and Co., Inc.  He loved golfing, coaching, and making a difference in the community. Throughout his years in Tecumseh, he coached softball, baseball and basketball. His passion for coaching led to the formation of the Tecumseh Warriors baseball and Crush softball teams. He also loved educating young drivers and was instrumental in bringing that drivers education program to town. But his pride and joy were his wife and children whom he adored and cherished.

Jim is survived by his wife Heather and their five children: Morgan Hite, James (Spencer) Hite, Whitney Hite (all of Tecumseh), and Paige Sparrow and William Sparrow (both of Britton); his sisters, Laurie (Kevin) Burchett of Tecumseh, Rebecca (Michael) Klein of Tecumseh and Carrie (Leonard) Snyr of Tipton, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael and Phyllis Hite and Joseph and Catherine Poleo.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A memorial service in Jim’s honor will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the family.
