Jacob Matthew Schaedler

Jacob Matthew Schaedler, age 17, a junior at Tecumseh High School, died from injuries sustained in a tragic accident in Kalkaska County, Mich., on January 3, 2016. Jacob was born on December 4, 1998 in Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of Matthew Schaedler and Kristie (McIntyre) Schaedler.

Jacob was a swimmer by nature. At the age of eight, he started swimming competitively. He was a member of Tecumseh swim team, mentored younger children learning to swim, and was a life guard. He loved his welding class at Lenawee Vo-Tech and was going to be in an upcoming competition for his work in welding. Jacob loved to sail, race, work on sailboats, and attended several sail camps through North Cape Yacht Club. Jacob did most of his sailing with his father, and they were working on a boat which they were going to race in Cuba. He was a gifted artist, and much of his work made people smile. Jacob helped his grandpa build a sawmill and enjoyed spending time there. Jacob was known to challenge his teachers and may be partially responsible for some of their gray hair. Jacob was a great thinker and always considered his thoughts to be true.

He loved family, life and he will be profoundly missed by all.

Jacob is survived by his parents; his sister, Jessica Schaedler; grandparents, Robert and Christine Schaedler and Kenneth and Sandra McIntyre; uncle and aunts, Christopher Schaedler, Kenneth (Lisa) McIntyre, James McIntyre and Kelly (Anthony) McCann; cousins, Jon and Brian Schaedler, Hannah, Kennen and Annie McIntyre, Nicholas and Brianna McCann; many other relatives, and his extended North Cape Yacht Club and swim families.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 at Tecumseh Center for the Arts at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tom Hawkins officiating.
