Herbert Saunders Hatfield, Jr.

Herbert Saunders Hatfield, Jr., age 72 of Tecumseh, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 6, 1942, in Williamson, W. Va., to Herbert Saunders and Martha Irene (Mack) Hatfield. On September 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Abbott in Fairfax, Va. Herbert had been employed with Ford Motor Company as an inspector of Quality Control, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed all outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. Herbert looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family and spending as much time as he could with his grandkids.Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Carol Ann Hatfield of Tecumseh; four sons, Keith (Jodi) Hatfield of Crossville, Tenn., Anthony (Kelli) Hatfield of Tecumseh, Brian (Michelle) Hatfield of Jerome, Mich., and James (Dawn) Hatfield of Tecumseh; one daughter, Irene (Robert Anderson) Hatfield of Britton; one brother, James (Debbie) Jones of Warrenton, Virginia; 13 grandchildren, Robert James Morrison, Joshua David Hatfield, Shelby Lynn Ellison, Katie Sloane Miller, Jeremy Michael Hatfield, Chase Myles Hatfield, Jamie Lynn Hatfield, Hannah Elizabeth Van Houten, Liam Saunders Hatfield, Tyler James Eugene Hatfield, Jacob Saunders Hatfield and Aspen Rhys Hatfield; and three great-grandchildren, Emily Sophia Miller, Nova Lynn Ellison and Wyatt James Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Saunders and Martha Irene Hatfield, his stepfather, Clyde E. Jones and a grandson, Cole Morgan Hatfield.Following Herbert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Herbert may be made to Hospice of Lenawee. Condolences may be made to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com.
