Harley Clinton Slick

Harley Clinton Slick, age 87, of Ridgeway, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019. He was born on August 6, 1931 in Whitmore Lake, the son of the late Russell and Nina (Fox) Slick. On October 9, 1954, he married Elizabeth Hindes in Angola, Ind., and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2014.    

Harley proudly served his country in Korea with the U.S. Army. He was self-employed in construction and also retired from the Tecumseh Products Company after 36 years as a foreman. Harley was a jack of all trades who enjoyed tinkering with his Army jeep and enjoyed spending time at his cottage, fishing and going hunting.  

Harley is survived by three sons; Randy Slick of Milan, Jeff Slick of Britton, and Brad (Deb) Slick of Onsted; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate Harley’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Britton, with Pastor Mark Zender officiating. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial was in Ridgeway Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187.
