Gwendolyn Lois Purple

Gwendolyn Lois Purple, age 86, of Tecumseh, passed away December 12, 2014, in Gaylord, Mich. Gwendolyn was born April 29, 1928 in Tecumseh, Mich., the daughter of David and Cora (Escott) Watson.On February 10, 1947, she married Melvin Purple and he preceded her in death, June 1987, after over 40 years of marriage. She lived her entire life in Tecumseh.Gwen is survived by her children, son, Clifford Forest (Cheri) Purple, of Fort Wayne Ind.; daughter, Carolyn (John) Robb of Wolverine, Mich., and one grandson, Todd Purple (Gwen's only grandchild).In addition to her husband, Melvin, Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Gertrude, Bill and Samuel of which Gwen was the youngest of four.Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Kenneth Boyd officiating. Burial followed in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at the funeral home.
