Edward Woolum

Edward Woolum, aged 86 years, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, March 31, 2020 at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. He was born on February 27, 1934 in Barbourville, Ky., the son of the late Thomas Marion and Hazel Lee (Hembree) Woolum. On November 24, 1958 in Garden City, he married Ina Fae Smith and they have shared 61 loving and faithful years together.

Edward retired from MSX International after 25 years of service as an automotive illustrator. He loved music and was the music director for the Community Baptist Church in Garden City, as well as a frequent soloist for worship services and family gatherings. His love extended to the arts and painting, scenes of nature being his favorite subject. Edward was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and a fine landscaper at his home in Tecumseh, Mich.

Besides his wife, Ina, he is survived by a son, Bryan Edward Woolum of Wayne; daughter, Rebecca Fern Comfort of Adrian; sister, Barbara (Robert) Swischer of Phoenix; two beloved  granddaughters, Maya Danielle Comfort and Naomi Renee Comfort. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rouie Young and Zelma Kilgore.

Private services will be held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army of Adrian, Michigan. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
