Dog owner thanks veterinarians, staff for care and compassion

To the Editor,

I am the guy in the Redwings jacket in winter, and in the broad-brimmed hat in summer who walked the big black furry dog all over Tecumseh.  Lucy loved walking because where ever we went her friends were there: City Hall, Martins, TLC and the many people who stopped us on the street for the opportunity to pet a big black friendly dog. They all knew and loved Lucy.

With great sadness I must report Lorraine and I lost Lucy to cancer on August 5, 2016. It was sudden and a very rapidly spreading cancer already metastasized. She was assisted to a painless death with her closest loved ones with her.

I wish to thank Drs. Major and Wise, and all the staff at Companion Animal Clinic for their care, compassion and kindness during her final days.

While we will miss her greatly, we are truly grateful for the nine wonderful years she was with us.
