Doesn’t know anyone bothered by planes

To the Editor,As many of us have learned Skydive Tecumseh is not allowed to operate at the airport it has called home for over 50 years. This is of course pending a court case against the new manager and majority shareholder of Meyers Diver’s Airport Andrew Aalto. I can say with great confidence that the majority of Tecumseh hopes the court decides in favor of Skydive Tecumseh and that soon our skies will be colored again with parachutes and filled with the joyful sounds of spring and summer that we have all grown to love. I don’t personally know a single person bothered by the sound of the skydiving plane. Each time we hear the skydiving plane roaring through the sky we are reminded of the support that Skydive Tecumseh brings to our town. There are thousands of people who come to Skydive Tecumseh each season. Those people bring money not only to Skydive Tecumseh but to many of the local businesses in our town and the surrounding towns. So while Andrew Aalto might feel that the sound is a public nuisance it appears as though it isn’t. Along with his claims of noise pollution he claims that Skydive Tecumseh is a safety hazard. He makes these claims but I have yet to see a single documented case in which Skydive Tecumseh has acted in an unsafe manner. So why would Andrew Aalto want to get rid of a thriving business that is so dear to Tecumseh residents. If it isn't a hazard to our town and if we actually love the sound of the plane then what is it really? Andrew Aalto needs to come out from behind his veil of lies. He needs to realize that if he shuts down Skydive Tecumseh all we will think of whenever we hear a plane from his airport is how he ruined something great in Tecumseh. So the question is, Andrew Aalto is this the legacy you want to leave behind? You moved to our community. You can choose to be a part of it or you can choose be against it. Ultimately it is up for the court to decide but as a community Mr. Aalto, we won't have your back until you can prove that you have ours.Lyndsey HardyTecumseh
