David William Ousterhout

David William Ousterhout, age 85, of Tecumseh passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018 at the Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home.  He was born May 4, 1933 in Tecumseh, the son of the late Bert and Arlene (Gillespie) Ousterhout.  On April 3, 1954 in Oregon, Ill. he married Donna Anderson and they have shared 64 years together.

David was the third-generation owner and operator of Ousterhout’s Flowers in Tecumseh. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh.  David was an original member of the Tecumseh Kiwanis Club and a volunteer for the Tecumseh Fire Department for 37 years.  In his younger years he was an avid hunter and enjoyed going out west with his buddies.  In his later years he was content to feed and watch the wildlife.

Besides his wife, Donna, he is survived by his children; Ginnie (John) Travis of Tecumseh and William (Nancy) Ousterhout of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Dresch of Sevierville, Tenn,; four grandchildren, Julie (Jordan) Fox, Ann Travis, Rita Ousterhout and Bert Ousterhout; and one great grandson, Travis Fox.

Visitation for David will be on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 from 3-4 p.m.  at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.  The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Cathi King officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery.  David’s life was full of flowers but for this occasion please donate to Paralyzed Veterans of America or the ALS Association.
