Couple commends city government for keeping Tecumseh beautiful

To the Editor,Our family moved to Tecumseh in November of 1968 and almost 47 years later we love living in Tecumseh as much as we did when we first moved here — maybe even more! We are proud of our City of Tecumseh, which has a beautiful downtown area and curb appeal from one end of it to the other. I’d like to commend the City Administration, the Economic Development Group and the Chamber of Commerce, and whoever else is responsible, for the great job you do in maintaining the beauty of our city and keeping the downtown stores filled. We go on a lot of day trips to other towns, as I’m sure many of our readers do, and it is sad to see the vacant stores block after block in some cases. It has to take a lot of planning and dedication to see all the projects through to promote our lovely city. The downtown shopping events, the car shows, the music in the park as well as the Pow Wow, the Appleumpkin Festival, the promenades of the homes, just to mention a few are wonderful events. And I will not leave out all the work that our city engineers do year in and year out keeping up the roads as best they can, mowing, snow removal, Christmas decorations, etc. Great job!As residents in the River Acres Subdivision, we appreciate the attention our City Management has given to keeping the River Raisin at a lake level. The beauty of this water area all times of the year is a wonderful sight to behold. We love seeing spring come to life after the ice is gone, the beautiful swans and geese, and, of course, the splendor of the fall colors across the water cannot be matched. If this area was not allowed to continue as it is we feel the whole City of Tecumseh would be saddened. We appreciate the commitment it has taken, and will continue to take, to maintain its beauty and usefulness. I would also like to give kudos to the folks who care for the Brookside Cemetery. It always looks well-kept and has to be a huge job. This year I understand the cemetery upkeep has been slowed by the large amount of rainfall but that is something all of us are experiencing with our yards. We appreciate all you do as well. On our trips we visit a lot of cemeteries, too. We have to be proud of ours.Pat and Paul PattenTecumseh
