Clinton wrestlers travel to Grand Rapids for round robin tournament

The tournament at Grand Rapids Forest Hills on January 18 was a round robin format and the Clinton Redskins went 3-1 for the day. The wrestling started with a win over Allendale 47-23. The second round was against host Forest Hills Eastern and the Redskins prevailed 56-15. The third round was against Divison 1 (No.5 rated) Bedford Mules.

The dual started off in the right direction with three straight wins, giving a lead to Clinton of 11-0, but that would be the end of the good news as Bedford got on a roll and won the next nine matches (two by forfeit) before Brayden Randolph stopped the skid with a pin. Bedford won the final match to make the score 48-17.

Clinton then finished the day with a win over Comstock Park 72-12. Connor Busz, Randolph, Logan Badge, and Jack Voll all went 4-0. Brenden Keith finished 3-0. Landis Gillman, AJ Baxter, Spencer Konz and Ryan Phillips went 3-1. Ethan Younts, Chase Packard and Noah Deshano had two wins. The Redskins are now 22-2 for the season.

The D4 No.1 ranked Redskins will head to Lowell this weekend for a huge undertaking. Lowell is currently ranked No. 2 in Division 2. Division 1 No. 2 Davison and Division 3 No. 1 Dundee will also be there. All three are nationally ranked.

The Redskins will wrestle Lowell at 7 PM on Friday night. Saturday starts at noon with Clinton taking on Dundee followed by the Clinton-Davison immediately after.
